2023 Workshops

The 2023 workshops are available for registration. Please fill out the registration form to let us know how many will be attending. The workshops are open to the public free of charge.

    History Presentation and Marigold Propagation

    Learn to properly sew the flowers, how to care for them, and when to harvest them. Students will also learn and discuss the flower’s history and significance to the holiday..

    Discuss history of woodblock printing and learn how to carve and print your image.

  • Workshop to discuss history of woodblock printing and learn how to carve iconic Dia de Muertos images into wood blocks and print your image. Free to the public.

  • Papel Picado

    Papel Picado / Paper Flowers

    Workshop to discuss the history and significance as well as learn how to cut and string papel picado.

  • Workshop to learn different techniques of how to cut and string papel picado (cut paper banners) to decorate your ofrenda or to display.

    Mosaics + Face Painting

    Learn how to make Dia de los Muertos themed ceramic mosaic tiles and paint your face like a calavera.

  • Workshop to discuss the process of silkscreen printing in Chicano Culture and see how the Muertos Y Marigolds Committee creates our t-shirts each year.

    Workshop to learn to crate a traditional paper mache creation for your alter, or to display at home.

    Paper Mache Part 2

    Workshop to finish paper mache project started in previous workshop or to display on your home altar or around the house.

  • Learn how to make paper mache figurines to decorate your ofrenda or to display in your home! This is the 2nd of 2 workshops to create paper mache designs. If you didn't come to the first one, no problem. Just start a new one and finish later. All are welcome!

    Learn the cultural significance and meaning behind the altar (ofrenda).

  • Learn cultural significance and meaning behind altar (ofrenda) making for the Dia De los Muertos holiday, as well as historical practices from its countries of origin as well as in our own state! All are welcome!
